NetSAP Community Service Committee organizes Gandhi Day of Service on Sunday, October 1, 2006: The Community Service Committee and a team of volunteers prepare meals at a food kitchen on National Gandhi Day of Service.

The Community Service and Mentorship Committee provides members and patrons opportunities to give back to our community.

These service activities will not only benefit other members of the community, but will also help you develop and grow individually.

Community service is often seen as something you do for others; an activity that we do to transform the lives of individuals. But there is an immense benefit to you. Community service provides direct access to knowing yourself better. It challenges you in ways that require stepping outside your comfort zone - be it through communications, being a team player, or defining your leadership style.

Pooling our knowledge, talent, and heart, we can take steps towards building a community that will enrich the lives of all involved.

Our programs are diverse starting from mentoring opportunities, to transforming the lives of the elderly South Asian population, to partnering with organizations/events such as Asha for Education, National Gandhi Day of Service, Hands on DC, Race for the Cure, etc.

If you are ready for the challenge to transform life and expand your capacity to lead, contact us at community@netsap.org and join the listserve above.

Mentorship Program

The NetSAP-DC Community Service/Mentorship Committee provides a platform for interested mentor volunteers to explore opportunities to mentor students/recent graduates/mentees interested in continuing education from different age groups. We are constantly looking for organizations who are seeking mentors and we will help your mentoring interests with suitable opportunities.

We welcome volunteers from different professional backgrounds who are willing to help through their career expertise, academic credentials and/or professional contacts. Mentors assist mentees by answering questions about career choices, interviewing strategies, resume preparation, continuing education, internships, job searches and other forms of professional advancement.

If you are interested in such an opportunity, download the Mentor Registration Form and send completed forms to community@netsap.org. If you are an organization looking for mentors, either academic or professional, send the details to community@netsap.org.If you are interested in such an opportunity, download the Mentor Registration Form and send  completed forms to community@netsap.org.
