Mission

The mission of the NetSAP Sports committee is to serve members and others in the community by providing leadership and support for the conduct of those activities which will enrich the educational experiences of all participants.

The NetSAP sports committee will promote activities that provide lifelong and life-quality learning experiences to those who participate while enhancing their achievement of educational goals.

Philosophy

The cost is minimal, while the worth is maximal.

These programs will help young professionals learn the values associated with discipline, performing under stress, teamwork, sacrifice, commitment, effort, accountability, citizenship, sportsmanship, confidence, leadership and organizational skills, participating within rules, physical well-being and chemical health, striving towards excellence, and many other characteristics that must be the priority of every self respecting program.

Ethics, playing within the spirit of the rules, and good sportsmanship (which is good citizenship) will be woven into the fabric of the NetSAP ideals.

Proposed Events

Run a marathon or half-marathon with Team Asha.
Team Asha is Asha For Education's marathon campaign fund-raising arm, providing a guaranteed entry into the 2008 Marine Corps Marathon. The success of Team Asha is based on a strong commitment from a dedicated set of coaches (members of the Arlington based Marathon Charity Partners organization), a strong support structure developed for first time runners, and an inspiring cause. Team Asha has raised more than $150,000 in the past 4 years, and trained more than 100 first time runners for the Maring Corps Marathon, Baltimore Half-marathon and the Virginia Beach Half-marathon. More details can be found at www.runforashadc.org.

NetSAP members have an opportunity to train with runners at all levels of ability and raise money for a good cause.

Golf with the NetSAP community
Spring is close by and its time to get the clubs out. This unique program offers an opportunity to those that want to pickup the game, or just want to make new friends over a round of golf. The program is expected to start in April. Email sports@netsap.org if you are interested or would like to know more.
