About the Book Club
The The Network of South Asian Professionals of DC (NetSAP-DC) book club started in Oct. 1998 by Suvarna Rajguru. The idea was to share, learn and discuss our south Asian heritage by reading books about South Asia or with south Asian themes. The NetSAP-DC Bookclub meets the second Thursday of the month at 7pm. We usually meet at the residence of one of the participants, who lives preferably inside, (or just outside) the 495 beltway for driving convenience.

To Join the Book Club
The bookclub members vary each month based on current and any new members who have made a good faith effort to read that book of the month. If you are new to the bookclub, please join the listserv (see below) to find out about meeting details. Please come to the meeting(s) only if you have made an effort to read the book in order to participate in the discussion.

NetSAP-DC Book Club Guidelines

General Guidelines for Meetings and Postings

  1. Use the Bookclub listserve ONLY for purposes that relate to book club
topics and meetings. Please do not use the listserve for non bookclub related matters or
to generate non bookclub related discussions. The Yahoogroups website provides a chat room for these purposes.
  2. Please refrain from making personal attacks or using obscene language
when posting to the entire group.
  3. Attend the meeting, if you have made a good faith effort to read the book.

RSVP at least 3 days prior to the meeting(or more if the host requests it).
Please call the host if you will be unable to make it, preferably the day
before the meeting. Please do not be a no-show as a courtesy to the host.
  5. . At the meetings, please try to keep to one group discussion, vs. sideline
discussions. Everyone would like to hear and share in your comments and
viewpoints about the book or author.
  6. Ride requests-if you are seeking a ride for the meeting, please send an
email to the listserve with the subject heading SEEKING RIDE. Individuals
