What's it about?
Kahani is a group of South Asian Americans in the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area, who convene on a monthly basis to bring aspiring writers together.

Purposes of Kahani
Develop a forum to improve writing
Generate a learning, supportive environment for writers

Background
-Kahani means "story" in Hindi
-Established in 1999
-Monthly meetings
-Poetry/Play Readings with 60-90 attendees
-Hosted over 30 writing workshops

How does it work?
Attendees will read the contributed piece. On the day of the workshop, attendees will provide both written and verbal feedback to the author.

What can the piece be about?
Open topic/genre. Include novel excerpts, web logs, screenplays, short stories, prose/poems, travel logs etc.

How many writers workshop their piece each time?
We would like a max of 2 writers for each workshop. This gives sufficient time to each writer to get feedback.

I am interested, what do I do?
Contact Kahani at kahani@netsap.org, or visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kahanidc to sign up for our list serve!
