Background
The NetSAP-DC Social Committee will provide NetSAP-DC members the opportunity to plan and provide various types of formal and informal networking events for the NetSAP-DC membership and South Asian community of the Greater Washington area.

2005 Objectives for the Networking Committee
To give NetSAP-DC members ownership over social gatherings and events.
To increase patron attendance at events by creating social events with mass appeal.
To create an "open-door" atmosphere for South Asian's newly transitioning to the DC area.

Proposed Events
1) Member-Only Networking Luncheon - Networking events at local restaurants for a smaller audience (35-50 Members). This intimate atmosphere provides an opportunity to: introduce new Members to NetSAP and encourage networking amongst members and community leaders; collaborate with Professional Committee.

2) Networking Events - Host larger events that provide an informal environment to mix and mingle with other South Asian Professionals. Venues will be in DC and times will vary based on the type of networking event.

3) Special Events - Host annual events that provide different avenues for members to engage in informal, yet social networking activities in various settings. Examples include:
Chai Chat: A monthly opportunity for South Asians to informally discuss and express their ideas on cultural issues within an unstructured context. Examples of topics include dating, family, marriage, etc.
Cosmic Bowling: A networking event at a cosmic bowling center with music, food, fun, and a night of strikes with collaboration of the Sports Committee.
Laser Quest: An exciting interactive game of laser zapping entertainment. The game is similar to hide and seek and tag but requires action filled movements required in cops and robbers, with assistance from the Sports Committee.
Kings Dominion: A public park located in Virginia filled with rides (water park included) and shows. This fun filled event provides an informal networking atmosphere in a recreational & relaxed environment; with assistance from the Sports Committee.
