Background
The Network of South Asian Professionals of DC
(NetSAP-DC) membership and patrons include South Asian American professionals
living in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area. The South Asian community
in Washington has typically been recognized for its outstanding professional
performance. However, it has not received similar recognition for its
commitment to the professional development of the community at large and
the professional talents of South Asians often go unrecognized by major
business enterprises. The primary mission of this committee for the 2004
calendar year will be to take advantage of the professional diversity
of the NetSAP members as well as the community as a whole and create an
environment in which to showcase the wide array of professional talents.
In addition, this committee will setup events that will promote the further
professional development of the South Asian community in the Greater Washington
Metropolitan area.
2005 Objectives for the Professional Committee
In order for the NetSAP-DC community to succeed professionally and socially,
our members need to understand how Corporate America functions, and to
develop both the hard, technical skills and the soft personal skills to
create a stronger presence within the professional community. Only then
can our members effectively utilize the resources that are available to
all of us as Americans.
Proposed Events
The committee will plan for 1-2 large events (100+) &4 monthly events
(30-50)- To organize events that allow NetSAP-DC members to improve their
professional talents, so as to provide their professions and industries
with an invaluable asset, themselves. Our goals include:
