Background
The Network of South Asian Professionals of DC (NetSAP-DC) continues to
encourage sports and sporting events in the Greater DC area in terms of
providing a different avenue for networking, fun and exercised filled activities,
intellectual capital to name a few. The Sports Program is committed to developing
a venue for which its members can participate with other members in a variety
of sporting events.
2005 Objectives for the Sports Committee

To create a greater presence within the DC metro area
for NetSAP-DC in terms of increased participation in sports. This
will be accomplished with weekly "clubs within the club",
spring/summer leagues, and more extensive outdoor/sporting trips.

To establish alliances with South Asian and other ethnic
organizations; to provide support for community service projects that
have synergies with NetSAP-DC.

Proposed Events
1) Weekly "Club within the Club" program - Weekly organized
events such as running, biking, roller-blading will serve as a base level
of sporting activity for our members. The "clubs" will meet regularly
at the same locations and will be something our members can rely on for
their own personal training.
2) Spring/Sumner League - League programs will be developed to provide
members with interest in softball, ultimate, flag-football, tennis, etc.
to participate with other members of NetSAP-DC. The leagues will also foster
relationship building with other groups, African American, Latinos, Law
firms, etc that participate in the League program.
3) Trips - 3-4 more involved trips are proposed this year. These
will be longer trips that will require transportation and lodging. For example,
for the Spring/Summer activities could include a rafting trip, a multi-day
camping trip, a long-distance biking trip, Bungee, etc.
