NetSAP DC: Beginner Level Indian Cooking Class, December 9, 2006, 12:30 PM

 

Interested in learning the basics of Indian cooking?

 

NetSAP DCis offering cooking classes this fall that will be perfect for you.  The classes will be led by professional cooking instructor Rupen Rao and will be open to groups of 10 people. The classes will offer an overview of the basics of Indian cooking and will teach participants how to prepare a full menu from appetizer to dessert.

(2) IAFPE Conference: Becoming a Politically Effective Community, Boston, December 2, 2006

 

The IAFPE Conference in Boston is bringing together a number of key Indian-American political groups and is organized by Ravi Sakhuja, who was elected to the Lexington School Committee this year.  It will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Cambridge, MA.  To register, visit their website at www.iafpe.org

 

(3)  NATYAM: Dance Auditions, December 2, 2006

 

Natyam is a local dance company based in the Greater Washington area that promotes awareness of South Asian culture and arts through dance. We are currently looking for inspired and talented performers to join us as we unfold our timeless dance creations. AUDITION:
Date to learn Choreographed routine:  Saturday, December 2nd 2006
Time:  1:30 – 6:00 PM
(1:30 – 2:00 PM – Discuss audition details and Natyam dancer expectations)

FINAL Audition Date:  Monday, December 4th 2006
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM
(Perform choreographed routine and personal routine before a panel of judges)

Herndon Senior Center at Herndon Harbor House

A choreographed routine will be taught in one day within a 4 hour time period. On the final day of auditions, each dancer will be expected to perform this routine after some practice as well as their own original routine in front of a panel of judges. You will be required to perform a 60-90 second original routine that displays your creativity or specialization in dance.  You are open to all types of dance styles and not just the ones we have listed above. We are not only looking for exceptional dancers, but those who project an excitement and embrace the love of dance.
